Bartelt Wins Three Gold Remodeler of the Year Awards

On Friday, January 17, 2020, Bartelt took home three GOLD Remodeler of the Year (RotY) Awards.  Our team was recognized in the Entire House $500,001 – $750,000, Residential Interior $100,000 – $250,000 and Residential Kitchen $100,001 – $150,000 categories.

“We are incredibly proud of this achievement,” said Rick Bartelt, owner.  “These awards are the result of the dedication, expertise and creativity of our entire team – our designers, carpenters, electricians, cabinetmakers, production staff, trade partners and clients.  We are truly fortunate to work with the best!”

The Remodeler of the Year Awards is an annual event hosted by NARI Milwaukee.  It is an opportunity to honor the outstanding work its members have accomplished throughout the year.

Entire House $500,001 – $750,000

The 1930s home had been gutted by another contractor who did not properly demo the house and eventually left it in disarray. The homeowners needed to make it livable for their young family, and they desired spaces that would reflect their style and acknowledge the era of the home. Now, the spaces are conducive to daily life and entertaining. The remodel features new hardwood floors, a family room with a vaulted ceiling, beams, and a restored “Church” window, a den with a linear gas fireplace, a functional kitchen with a cherry island top, and a large master suite.

Residential Interior $100,000 – $250,000

The 1930s home was dated and compartmentalized. The homeowners desired a functional layout that complemented their lifestyle. With the removal of walls and the addition of large archways, the first floor spaces are now open to one another while acknowledging the original scale of the home. The expanded kitchen features a navy island, a marble top, and high-end paneled appliances. A new mudroom offers practical storage and a buffer between indoor and outdoor spaces. The remodeled lower level has a rustic aesthetic and boasts a wet bar with reclaimed barn wood and a wine cellar.

Residential Kitchen $100,001 – $150,000

The homeowners’ kitchen was dated, dark and cramped. They wanted to create a space that reflected their style and was more conducive to their daily life. With the removal of walls, the remodeled kitchen is now open to other first floor spaces and accommodates the family of five’s needs.  It features an emerald green island, ample storage, high-end appliances, marble-look quartz tops, brass fixtures and hardware, furniture-style cabinetry and a zinc range hood. The space is a nod to the home’s original charm while mixing in the homeowners’ modern style.

Bartelt Wins 2019 National CotY Award

Bartelt was recently named the 2019 National Contractor of the Year (CotY) by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for the Entire House $500,001 – $750,000 category.

“We are honored to be named the 2019 National Contractor of the Year in this category,” said Rick Bartelt, owner. “We are incredibly thankful for our team, industry partners and clients. We would not be where we are today without their support and expertise.”

Contractors from seven regions nationwide vied for the National CotY awards. An impartial panel of judges, who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.  Bartelt beat out over 350 entries in a competition that equates to over $97 million worth of remodeling projects.

The homeowners of the winning project contemplated moving to find a home better suited for their family of six, but after years of searching, they realized that they did not want to leave their neighborhood. They decided to remodel their home to accommodate daily living and showcase their vintage style. An addition was built to expand the home to include a large kitchen, family room, mudroom, master suite and additional bedrooms. The home features details that complement both the existing character of the home and the homeowners’ style – brass fixtures and hardware, cased openings, built-in bookshelves, v-groove walls and a neutral color scheme.
