On Friday, January 16, 2026, the Bartelt team took home two Remodeler of the Year awards – a Gold Award in the Residential Detached Structure category and a Silver Award in the Residential Interior $250,000 – $500,000 category.

The Remodeler of the Year Awards is an annual event hosted by NARI Milwaukee. It is an opportunity to honor the outstanding work its members have accomplished throughout the year.
Residential Detached Structure | Gold Award
The homeowners loved their 1920s arts-and-crafts-style cottage but needed a more functional garage. The existing attached garage was cramped, lacked storage, and didn’t suit modern needs. They aimed to build a detached, two-story carriage house that provided vehicle space, storage, and a garden room, while respecting the home’s historic charm and working with the property’s steep, wooded topography. Key challenges included drainage, permitting, and integration into the existing landscape. Thoughtful design choices were made to enhance the new carriage house’s functionality without compromising character —cedar siding, flagstone, a custom arbor, limestone window sills, an EV charging station, and custom lighting.
Residential Interior $250,000 – $500,000 | Silver Award
The homeowners sought to update their primary suite to match the modern-eclectic style of their home while improving functionality and comfort. Key objectives included aligning the suite with their personal aesthetic, maximizing usable space, and creating a serene, spa-like bathroom. The remodeled suite features high-end finishes like a faceted Kallista bathtub, Calacatta Chiara marble, and statement lighting. An adjacent bonus room was converted into a spacious walk-in closet with dedicated zones. Warm tones, organic textures, and thoughtful details contributed to a luxurious, peaceful retreat that reflects both style and practicality, transforming the suite into a personalized, functional, and elegant space.
