Bartelt Named 2017 Regional Contractor of the Year

Wauwatosa Butler's PantryBartelt was named the 2017 Region 3 Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for the Entire House $500,001 – $750,000 category.

“We are honored to be named the 2017 Regional Contractor of the Year in this category,” said Rick Bartelt, owner. “These awards are the result of the expertise and dedication of the entire team, including our designers, carpenters, production staff, trade partners, and customers.”

Bartelt was selected as the winner of Region 3 North Central, an area that includes contractors from Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.  Contractors from seven regions around the country vie for CotY Awards on an annual basis, and all regional winners will now be eligible for the National CotY Awards.  National winners will be honored at NARI’s Evening of Excellence reception on Friday, April 7, 2017, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Wauwatosa Kitchen RemodelAfter previous remodels, the winning project was dated, and the spaces lacked unity. The homeowners wanted to enhance the home’s original charm, creating a cohesive design throughout the various rooms, while highlighting their eclectic style and accommodating their modern lifestyle. The remodel features a new mudroom, kitchen expansion, family room, butler’s pantry, first floor bathroom, dining room, and master bathroom. Throughout the project, it was important to increase the natural light in the home and make the spaces more conducive to entertaining. Now, the home is a balanced mix of the homeowners’ eclectic taste and more traditional details.  Bartelt worked with interior designer Jeff Wasserman to complete the project.

Bartelt Wins Two Gold Wisconsin Remodelers Awards

On Friday, January 13, 2017, Bartelt took home two gold Wisconsin Remodelers Awards (WRAs). Our team was recognized in the Basement Over $100,000 and Entire House $500,001 – $750,000 categories.

“We are very proud of this achievement,” said Rick Bartelt, owner. “These awards are the result of the creativity and expertise of our entire team, including our designers, carpenters, production staff, trade partners, and clients.  We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.”

The Wisconsin Remodelers Awards is an annual event hosted by the Milwaukee NARI Home Improvement Council, Inc.  It is an opportunity to honor the outstanding work its members have accomplished throughout the year.

Gold | Basement Over $100,000The winning Bartelt projects each had unique components.  The Basement Over $100,000 project was originally a blank canvas.  The homeowners wanted another living space that both the adults and teenagers could enjoy. It needed to be a fun area to watch movies, entertain, and relax. The remodeled space offers a comfortable and contemporary spot for the family. It features a bar with pepper gray cabinetry, a stacked stone backsplash, and textured granite. Neighboring the bar, a modern fireplace with a floating hearth serves as the focal point of the lower level. The lower level also includes a theater room with a “starry” ceiling – the perfect spot for the kids!

Gold | Entire House $500,001 - $750,000After previous remodels, the Entire House $500,001 – $750,000 home was dated, and the spaces lacked unity.

Bartelt Wins 2016 Regional CotY Award

Elm Grove Kitchen RemodelBartelt was named the 2016 Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for the Residential Addition Over $250,000 category.

“We are honored to be named the 2016 Regional Contractor of the Year in this category,” said Rick Bartelt, owner. “These awards are the result of the expertise and dedication of the entire team, including our designers, carpenters, production staff, trade partners, and customers.”

Bartelt was selElm Grove Hearth Room Remodelected as the winner of Region 3, an area that includes contractors from Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.  Contractors from seven regions around the country vie for CotY Awards on an annual basis, and all regional winners will now be eligible for the National CotY Awards.  National winners will be honored at NARI’s Evening of Excellence on Friday, April 8, 2016, in Austin, Texas.

The winning Bartelt project was originally an 1850s barn and was converted to a home in 1938. With so much charm and history, the homeowners wanted to retain and enhance the home’s original character while accommodating their modern lifestyle. The two-story addition houses a new mudroom, kitchen expansion, hearth room, master suite, and attached garage with a bonus room. Throughout the addition, it was important to create a rustic, yet refined aesthetic. This was achieved with beams, board and batten siding, shakes, layers of lighting, exposed wood, and other selections that acknowledge the home’s barn past.Elm Grove Kitchen Remodel

Competing projects were completed between December 1, 2013, and November 30, 2015, and were not submitted in prior NARI National contests. An impartial panel of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields selected winners based on each entrant’s submission, which include “before and after” photography and project descriptions. Judging focused on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, and degree of difficulty.

To be considered for a CotY Award, a company must be a NARI member in good standing.  NARI members represent an elite group of the approximately 800,000 companies and individuals in the U.S. identifying themselves as remodelers.

Bartelt Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Bartelt Remodeling Celebrates 30 YearsBartelt. The Remodeling Resource, a premier, family-owned remodeling firm specializing in residential and commercial design and construction, will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2014.

Rick Bartelt, a seasoned carpenter, had worked in the family business for 10 years, learning the ins and outs of the remodeling and construction industry.  In 1984, Bartelt and his wife, Chris, established Bartelt. The Remodeling Resource.

“We would not have reached this milestone, our 30th year in business, without the support, creativity, and expertise of our customers, employees, and trade partners,” said Rick Bartelt, owner.  “We are truly fortunate to work with the best.”

The Bartelt team includes three in-house designers, production staff, and rough and finish carpenters.  Beyond the in-house team, Bartelt has built longstanding partnerships with some of the area’s finest and well-established tradesmen who offer their expertise in areas ranging from mechanical to millwork.  Originally located in Menomonee Falls, Wis., the Bartelts moved the company to Downtown Delafield in 2009.

The Bartelt team has also won many local, regional, and national industry awards, including 2013 Regional and National “Contractor of the Year” (CotY) awards presented by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).

The presentation will answer an important question: How can we create a space that stands the test of time and looks like it has always been there?  A remodel is a big investment, so it’s important to ensure that a space has a long “life span.”

Matt Retzak is the project designer and coordinator for Bartelt.  With over 14 years of architectural and industry experience, he has worked for the company for over 10 years, overseeing the design process and helping clients think outside of the box.  Retzak has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

Rick Bartelt is the owner of Bartelt.  He began in the construction industry 40 years ago, assisting his father, Ronald Bartelt, on project sites during weekends, holidays, and summer vacations.
