Bartelt Wins 2016 MBA Achievement Award

Elm Grove Kitchen RemodelOn Friday, September 30, 2016, Bartelt took home a MBA Achievement Award in the Best Remodeling Project $250,000+ category.

“We are honored to receive an Achievement Award,” said Rick Bartelt, owner. “This award is the result of the creativity, dedication, and expertise of our team, trade partners, and customers.”

Elm Grove Exterior RemodelThe winning Bartelt project was originally a 1850s barn and was converted to a home in 1938. With so much charm and history, the homeowners wanted to retain and enhance the home’s original character while accommodating their modern lifestyle. The two-story addition houses a new mudroom, kitchen expansion, hearth room, master suite, and attached garage with a bonus room. Throughout the addition, it was important to create a rustic, yet refined aesthetic. This was achieved with beams, board and batten siding, shakes, layers of lighting, exposed wood, and other selections that acknowledge the home’s barn past.

Bartelt Wins Two 2016 Regional Chrysalis Awards

On Monday, May 2, 2016, we were named a 2016 Regional Chrysalis Awards winner for the Addition Over $250,000 and Whole House Remodel $300,000 – $700,000 categories.

“We are honored to receive two 2016 Regional Chrysalis Awards, ” said Rick Bartelt, owner. “These awards are the result of the creativity and dedication of our outstanding team, trade partners, and customers.”

2016 Regional Chrysalis Winner - Addition Over $250,000The winning Bartelt projects each had unique components.  The Addition Over $250,000 home was originally a 1850s barn and was converted to a home in 1938.

2016 Regional Chrysalis Winner - Whole House Remodel $300,000-$700,000The Whole House Remodel $300,000 – $700,000 home was dated, compartmentalized, and stale. The homeowners wanted to update the space to accommodate their modern lifestyle, showcase their eclectic style, and take advantage of their beautiful setting. The exterior of the home was transformed with a metal roof, fieldstone, low maintenance siding, a pergola, cedar columns and brackets, and a screen porch. Inside the home, each room tells a “story,” with reclaimed pieces throughout the first floor – barn doors, beams, and boards. The first floor now has a more open concept, and there is a natural flow between indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces.

The Chrysalis Awards program, started in 1994, recognizes the nation’s best work in fifteen general categories of residential and commercial remodeling. The Chrysalis Awards are open to any professional remodeler and design professional in the United States.  The entries were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.

AftWauwatosa Sunroom Remodeler previous remodels, the Best Remodeling Project $150,000+ home was dated, and its spaces lacked unity.  Bartelt remodeled both the interior and exterior, including a new master suite, an exterior “facelift,” a new detached garage, a family room transformed from the old, attached garage, and an expanded kitchen.  The remodel restored and enhanced the original charm of the 1940s home.

Bartelt Wins Two MBA Achievement Awards

On Friday, September 26, 2014, we took home two Metropolitan Builders Association (MBA) Achievement Awards – Best Remodeling Project $150,000+ and People’s Choice for the 2014 MBA Spring Tour.

The winning Bartelt projects each had unique components.  The whole house remodel returned an 1880s farmhouse back to its original charm. Bartelt updated the entire first floor and built a sunroom addition that complements the home’s existing details.  The project is a mix of rustic and refined elements, featuring reclaimed barn beams, coffered ceilings, white custom cabinetry, fieldstone, and character-grade hickory flooring with hand-eased edges.

The lower level remodel featured on the 2014 Spring Tour offers the homeowners a comfortable area to watch movies, entertain, and play.  It’s a space that both the adults and kids can enjoy, featuring marble subway tile, engineered Hickory flooring, ample storage, barn-style doors, arched openings, and smoky gray custom cabinetry.

We are honored to receive two Achievement Awards.  These awards are the result of the creativity, dedication, and expertise of the entire team, including our designers, carpenters, production staff, trade partners, and customers.

Bartelt Named 2014 Regional Contractor of the Year

Bartelt was named the 2014 Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for the Residential Interior $100,000 and Over category.

“We are honored to be named the 2014 Regional Contractor of the Year in this category,” said Rick Bartelt, owner. “These awards are the result of the expertise and dedication of the entire team, including our designers, carpenters, production staff, trade partners, and customers.”

Bartelt was selected as the winner of Region 3, an area that includes contractors from Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.  Contractors from seven regions around the country vie for CotY Awards on an annual basis, and all regional winners will now be eligible for the National CotY Awards.  National winners will be honored at NARI’s Evening of Excellence on Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Marriott New Orleans.

The winning Bartelt project was previously dated and compartmentalized.  Bartelt created a layout conducive to entertaining and introduced a rustic aesthetic to complement the clients’ heavily wooded lot.  It features textured granite, hand-scraped floors, hand-trowelled plaster walls, custom cabinetry, and other rustic details.

Competing projects were completed between July 1, 2012, and November 30, 2013, and were not submitted in prior NARI National contests. An impartial panel of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrant’s binders, which include “before and after” photography and project descriptions. Judging focused on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, and degree of difficulty.

To be considered for a CotY Award, a company must be a NARI member in good standing.  NARI members represent an elite group of the approximately 800,000 companies and individuals in the U.S. identifying themselves as remodelers.
